The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has officially replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The most talked-about change is the removal of Section 124A (Sedition).
What replaces it?
The new Section 152 deals with “Acts endangering sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India.”
What does this mean for you?
Constructive criticism of the government is no longer a crime. However, any act—spoken, written, or digital—that encourages secession or armed rebellion carries stricter penalties than before (up to 7 years or life imprisonment).
