New Year’s Eve in Delhi NCR sees the highest number of police checkpoints (nakas). The most common legal query we receive in January is regarding Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The Penalties:
- First Offense: Imprisonment up to 6 months and/or fine of ₹10,000.
- Second Offense: Imprisonment up to 2 years and/or fine of ₹15,000.
What to do if your car is seized?
If the police impound your vehicle, you cannot simply pay the fine online. You must appear before the Magistrate to pay the fine and get a release order for your vehicle.
At Delhi Law Advocates, we assist clients in contesting false challans and releasing seized vehicles swiftly.
